1,6-Hexanol is a colorless crystalline solid, melting point 42 ℃, boiling point 250℃, soluble in water, is an important chemical raw materials, is one of the important raw materials for a variety of organic synthesis.

Used in the production of polyurethane, unsaturated polyester, plasticizer, gelling agent hardener, lubricant thermal stability improver, etc. Also used in pesticide pyrethroids, organic peroxide, cyclic musk, polyethylene plastic crosslinking agent and polyether rubber production.
1) Polyurethane field: Polyurethane elastomer is widely used in synthetic rubber, elastic fiber, synthetic leather and other fields. 1,6-Hexanol can be applied to polyester resins to modify polyurethane elastomers. The modified resin has excellent mechanical strength, water resistance, heat resistance and oxidation resistance.
2) Polyester field: Since the carbon chain of 1,6-Hexanol unsaturated polyester is more difficult to hydrolyze than other unsaturated polyesters with short chain alcohols, and the softness is better, it can improve the alkali resistance of the resin and improve its adhesion to glass fibers. As for saturated polyester, polyester prepared from 1,6-Hexanediol and 4,4-dicarboxylic acid-diphenylsulfonic acid has high tensile strength and elasticity. Excellent solvent resistance and swelling resistance, especially suitable for photographic film bases. Polyesters of 1,6-Hexanol and terephthalic acid are suitable for polyester fiber treatment.
3) Synthetic resin additive: Compared with low molecular weight plasticizer, plasticizer using 1,6-Hexanol has excellent performance in volatility resistance, oil spray frost resistance, migration resistance and low temperature resistance, and can be widely used in plastics, rubber, epoxy resin and other materials.
