Butane-1,4-diol is an important organic chemical and fine chemical raw material. It is the basic raw material for producing polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) engineering plastics and PBT fiber. PBT plastics is one of the five most promising engineering plastics.
Butane-1,4-diol is the main raw material for producing tetrahydrofuran. Tetrahydrofuran is an important organic solvent. Polytetramethylene glycol ether (PTMEG) obtained after polymerization is the basic raw material for producing high elastic polyurethane (Lycra fiber). Spandex is mainly used in the production of high-grade sportswear, swimwear and other high-elastic knitwear.
γ-butyrolactone, a downstream product of Butane-1,4-diol, is a raw material for the production of 2-pyrrolidone and N-methyl pyrrolidone, from which a series of high value-added products such as vinyl pyrrolidone and polyvinyl pyrrolidone are derived, which are widely used in pesticides, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
